The events team of the Foundation and Friends of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew is responsible for a portfolio of 60+ events a year designed to support the Membership and Development teams achieve their fundraising strategies and goals.
The events team is currently looking to hire an Events Assistant to support the programme. This entry-level role will have exposure to the entire events programme and is designed to give support to the events team, as well as providing the opportunity to take ownership of some small events during the course of the year.
This role will provide experience in event design, planning and coordination at a unique venue, with exposure to a high profile fundraising team. It will provide an opportunity for an individual seeking employment in the events sector to gain experience of fundraising events and to develop individual skills in event planning and delivery, project management and communication. Events range from intimate guided tours of the garden, to large bespoke high-level dinners.
To be a successful candidate, you will need to be self-motivated with great planning skills and a can-do attitude that remains calm under pressure. You will have an interest in, or passion for Kew’s core mission to be the global resource for plant and fungal knowledge, building an understanding of the world’s plants and fungi upon which all our lives depend.
You will need to be happy to muck in and support at all levels; an essential team player willing to put in the long and sometimes unsociable hours required for a successful event. You have excellent time management skills and are able to seize the initiative. You are creative and have an eye for detail. You can deliver outstanding customer service and are a good communicator. Previous event experience and/or knowledge about fundraising is desirable but not essential.
The salary will be £19,000 - £22,000 per annum, depending on skills and experience.
